If you are in Porto Alegre, trying a chimarrão (a traditional mate beverage) is a must.
But to experience it like a local, there are some rules:
– Don’t ask for sugar
– Don’t say it’s not hygienic (since everyone drinks from the same cup)
– Don’t say it’s too hot
– Don’t leave half a chimarrão at the cup
– Don’t worry if you make weird noises with the scroll at the end of the drink. It’s ok!
